ABOUT US

Education Station Learning Centers, LLC is responding to the overwhelming demand from parents for educational options due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.  In response, we are offering full-day tutoring support services for students in grades 3-12 at our centers throughout the Indianapolis area.  Students must be enrolled in a full day eLearning program in order to participate.

Our centers are staffed by highly trained professionals, many of whom are licensed teachers.  Our full-day program will run from 8:00 am until 3:30 pm.  If needed, aftercare will be provided from 3:30 pm until 5:30 pm.  Instructors will oversee a cohort of a maximum of 15 students.  Students will work online with their classroom teachers each day to complete their assignments.  Our instructors will ensure students are logging on and completing their assignments, assist students with course work, and help students connect with their teachers if they need additional assistance.

Our centers will not provide educational programming.  Our instructors are here to assist with the schoolwork that has been assigned by their classroom teacher.  The lead instructor will be onsite to receive your child at 7:45 am.  Lead instructors remain onsite until 2:00 pm.  Instructional assistants are onsite from 12:30 pm until 5:30 pm each day.  This overlap allows the lead instructor to take a lunch break and time to update the instructional assistant in on what work students have accomplished and what work still needs to be completed.

At the end of each instructional day, students will have a chart that outlines their assignments and what they completed.  Parents will be asked to review the chart each day and sign off.  Charts will be collected each morning.  The charts help keep parents informed about their child’s schoolwork and gives them insight on whether or not they need to follow up with their child’s teacher.

ENROLLMENT PROCESS

In order to enroll in our full-day tutoring program, please submit the application and pay the $25 application fee.  After we have received your application, we will schedule a time to do a brief virtual interview with you and your child.  If your child is not accepted, the $25 fee will be refunded.  In addition to the interview, we are asking that you reach out to your child’s teacher from last year and have them send an email directly to tthomas@edslcenters.com answering the following questions.

  • Please tell us about the student’s typical behavior last year.

  • Please tell us about the student’s academic work habits.

  • Does the student get along well with his/her peers?

  • Does the student respond positively to redirection from adults?

  • Is there anything you feel we need to know concerning the child's learning habits?

Not all students will be accepted.  We are looking for students with strong work habits who also get along well with their peers and adults.  We are not a school and are not equipped to deal with students who exhibit challenging behaviors.

COVID-19 PROTOCOL

We will keep up to date with the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and our local and state government.  We are encouraged by the learnings and takeaways from the childcare centers in New York City and other cities that stayed open during lockdowns to care for the children of essential workers.  While there were recorded cases of COVID-19, there were no incidents of more than one case at a time per site.

We will continue to keep abreast of the newest recommendations and follow the guidance of centers and schools which are operating safely.

Our current COVID-19 protocol consists of the following:

  • Each staff member will have their temperatures checked upon arrival each day.  If a staff member has a temperature of 100 degrees or higher, they will need to return home.  If they are not positive for COVID-19, they may return to work when they are able to go 24 hours without medicine or homeopathic remedies to control the fever.

  • During drop off each morning, staff will use a contactless thermometer to check the temperatures of each child within their cohort.  If a child has a temperature of 100 degrees or higher, they will need to return home.  If they are not positive for COVID-19, they may return when they are able to go 24 hours without medicine or homeopathic remedies to control the fever.

  • Hands must be washed with soap and water upon entering, before lunch, after outdoor time, after restroom breaks, and after blowing one's nose or sneezing.

  • Hand sanitizer will be available as needed throughout the day.

  • Masks are to be worn over the mouth and nose whenever students are inside of the center.  Students will be given mask breaks throughout the day.

  • Social distancing will be encouraged, and students will be given frequent reminders.

  • Cohorts of 15 or fewer students will remain together each day.  Students will not be allowed to interact with other cohorts of students.

  • Siblings will be placed in the same cohort.

  • If a student displays signs of lethargy or communicates that they are not feeling well, their temperature will be checked again.  If they have a temperature of 100 degrees or higher, we will require the student to be picked up within the hour.  The student will be separated as much as possible from others until they are picked up.

  • Doors will remain open at all times to reduce touching shared surfaces.  The doorknobs of doors which cannot remain open, desks, chairs, light switches, and faucet handles will be sanitized frequently throughout the day.

  • Students will not be allowed to share food.

  • Students will not be allowed to share supplies.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT DOES MY CHILD NEED TO BRING?

You will need to provide your child with a laptop computer, all necessary school supplies, book(s) to read, headphones with a microphone, a lunch, a bottle of water, a mask.  Lotion, Vaseline or hand cream is also suggested as frequent handwashing dries out hands.

WILL YOU CONSIDER YOUNGER STUDENTS?

Our full day tutoring program is for students in grades 3-12.  Considerations for younger students will be made on a case by case basis, if they are the siblings of an enrolled student.

HOW LARGE IS EACH COHORT?

In an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19, students will not be allowed to interact with students outside of their cohort.  Each cohort will contain 15 students or less.

WHAT IS THE COST?

There is a $25 application fee. The cost of our full day program is $150 per week.  Aftercare is offered from 3:30 pm-5:30 pm.  After care is $5 per hour.  The sibling discount does not apply to aftercare.  There is an initial $50 deposit that is required to hold your spot, this does not include the application fee.  The $50 deposit will be applied to your child’s first week.  Payment is due by 6:00 pm each Friday for the following week.

WHAT CREDENTIALS DO YOUR INSTRUCTORS AND INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANTS HOLD?

Many of our instructors are licensed teachers.  Most instructional assistants have a minimum of 60 college credits and have previously worked with children.  All employees must have a current background check.

WHAT STRATEGIES DO YOU USE FOR BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT?

Students will be reminded of the rules and expectations often.  When students exhibit undesirable behaviors, they will be redirected with what is expected of them.  If the behavior persists, the student will be asked to fill out a reflection sheet.  If behaviors persist beyond that point, we will reach out to a parent.

WHAT IF MY CHILD OR SOMEONE IN OUR HOME IS DIAGNOSED WITH COVID-19?

We asked that if you or anyone in your household is diagnosed or demonstrating signs of COVID-19 that you self-quarantine for two weeks.  We will hold your spot for two weeks.  You do not have to make payment during that time in order to hold your spot.  If you have to quarantine or are not feeling well for longer than two weeks, please contact us.  We will do our best to work with you.

WHICH CENTERS ARE CURRENTLY ACCEPTING STUDENTS?

We are currently enrolling students at our center on 86th street across from the Nora Library and at our downtown center located near the intersection of Meridian Street and Fall Creek Parkway.  We may be adding an additional location in Washington Township and another location near downtown.  We will do our best to safely accommodate as many families as possible.
